The draftsman automaton and android by the Jaquet-Droz family

A famous anecdote is that the Jaquet-Drozes' automatons were presented to King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette at Versailles. On that occasion, the draftsman was to paint the portrait of Louis XV. But, Jean-Frédéric Leschot made a mistake with the shafts and, in front of the astonished monarchs, the automaton painted a dog.
