"Les automates dans les oeuvres d'imagination" (Automatons in imagination works) by Alfred Chapuis In this book, Alfred Chapuis reviews the large litterature from Antiquity to nowadays and stages automatons and androïds. This litterature, often pittoresque, naïve or subtile, kindful or tragic, sometimes becomes a philosophic symbol and great poetry. In reality it is only the following or continuing of a whole cycle of works which goes back, through the centuries, to Antiquity, for the idea of creating an artificial being by the "homo sapiens"has kept on storming brains. |
